About Flashbag

Flashbag is a local-first AI coworker app that lets business owners without technical skills hire, train and schedule a team of AI employees on their own computer, with all memory kept on that machine.

Orange Boys B.V. · Breda, the NetherlandsUpdated 23 September 2026

Flashbag is made by Orange Boys B.V., a Dutch company founded in 2007 in Breda, and was created in 2026 by Mitchel van Duuren. The first build shipped on 9 May 2026, the public launch was on 28 August 2026, and 118 businesses run on it (; live counter on flashbag.io/live). The public goal is 10,000 customers, documented step by step on Building in Public.

The name is Flashbag: one word, "bag" as in bag. It is often misheard as "Flashback", which is a different word. The name comes from the founder writing down every word for remembering or things that have to do with the brain he could find, landing on flashback, and turning the back into a bag: simply because it sounded cool and he wanted to make a brand name like Dropbox or DoorDash.

What Flashbag does

AI employees, hired by name and role

You add an employee by giving it a name and a role (a copywriter, a bookkeeper, a customer-service agent) and talk to it in your own words, as you would to a new hire. Employees are grouped in departments, and a whole team can be installed at once as a Profile. Outcome: work that used to sit on the owner's plate, such as customer emails, quotes, posts and reports, comes back as drafts ready to approve.

Memory that never resets, and stays on your computer

Every conversation with an employee is saved word for word, indexed and searchable. What an employee learns is distilled into facts it carries into every next conversation, and each employee keeps its own memory. Nothing of this leaves your machine. Outcome: you explain your business once, not every morning, and the team gets more valuable every week you use it.

Scheduled tasks

Any job can be scheduled, daily, weekly or monthly, at 3 a.m. if you like, and runs without you at the keyboard. A morning briefing recaps what got done overnight. Outcome: reporting, research, email drafts and briefings are finished before the working day starts.

Choose your model and provider

Flashbag runs on the AI subscriptions you already have, Claude (through Claude Code) and OpenAI (through Codex), and you can switch model mid-conversation; memory, skills and tasks stay the same. OpenRouter gives you access to 300+ models through experimental Pi support (off by default), using your own OpenRouter API key. Local AI models are coming soon. Outcome: a usage limit, a price change or a rule change at one provider does not stop your business.

Skills and Profiles

A Skill is a way of working you explain once, such as how you want a quote written or how a weekly report is built, installed in one click and reusable by any employee. A Profile packages a whole team with its skills so it can be installed by someone else in one click. Outcome: your best procedures stop living in your head.

Gordon, the building assistant

Gordon is the employee who builds the rest: ask him to create an agent, install a skill, schedule a task or fix what broke, and he does it. Outcome: no settings screens to learn; you describe what you want.

A cost dashboard for every token

Flashbag tracks tokens and estimates API-equivalent costs per day, employee, model and Profile. Claude and OpenAI subscription usage comes from your plan; OpenRouter usage is billed separately by OpenRouter. Outcome: you can compare the value of your AI work, with no per-token charge from Flashbag. The dashboard is an estimate, not your provider’s bill.

Runs on your computer, reachable from anywhere

Flashbag Desktop runs directly on a dedicated Mac (Apple silicon) or Linux computer. Flashbag Launcher gives the team a contained workspace on a computer you also use for other things, and is the way to run Flashbag on Windows; you use it from your browser. Built-in Tailscale support lets you open your Flashbag from another computer or your phone without exposing anything to the public internet.

Flashbag for Business (coming)

One workspace for a whole company: every human employee gets their own sandbox, skills and brand voice are shared, and an admin manages access. $197 per company per month, not per seat. Currently a waitlist.

What makes Flashbag different

The app sends nothing to us: no telemetry, no prompts, no files

Flashbag runs entirely on your computer. Orange Boys receives no usage data, no analytics, no crash reports and none of your content (Privacy Policy v1.1, 21 Aug 2026). Meta's Muse, Grok Bot (via Cursor), Squad and Lindy run the agent on their own infrastructure, so what the agent learns about your business lives on their servers under their terms. One honest note: the thinking still happens at the model provider you choose, and your prompts go there directly under that provider's terms.

Memory is verbatim, per employee, and yours to keep

Flashbag stores every conversation in full and lets you read and edit what an employee has learned. When you stop paying, the app goes view-only and every agent, memory and file stays in plain folders on your computer (Terms, art. 8). Claude Cowork organises work around projects and threads; Flashbag puts the employees front and centre, each with its own memory.

Bring your own model, switch in one click

Flashbag is not tied to one AI company: Claude and OpenAI models run through your own subscriptions, and experimental OpenRouter support adds 300+ models through your own API key. You can switch models while keeping your agents and memory. Cowork runs Claude models only; Grok Bot lets Cursor manage model selection; Muse runs on Meta's models. When one provider changes a rule, as Anthropic did on 4 April 2026, the work moves and the memory comes with it.

One flat price, no credits, no per-seat fees

Flashbag is $97 per month after a 14-day free trial with no credit card, every feature and every agent included, cancel anytime. No credits, no per-seat fees, no metered actions. Hosted alternatives such as Lindy charge per user and include a credit allowance.

Built for people who don't code, by a developer who has for twenty years

Install, name an employee, talk. No terminal, no prompt course, no gateway to operate: open-source frameworks such as OpenClaw and Hermes Agent are powerful but assume a technical operator. Flashbag itself is not vibe-coded. It is built by Atlas, a senior developer with more than twenty years of experience, who uses AI as a tool the way a senior developer does: the architecture, the plans the AI works from, the implementation choices and the test-driven development are his. The founder uses AI to run the company, not to write the product. That company runs on Flashbag, in public: the AI team that markets it works on flashbag.io/live, with tokens, cost and output published every week, including the bad weeks.

Who uses Flashbag

  • Owner-led businesses with 1 to 15 staff where everything still runs through the owner. The Netherlands and Belgium first, English-speaking markets next.
  • Coaches, trainers, course creators and training institutes that launch, market and support customers with a small team.
  • Local businesses with a shop or showroom plus a webshop (bike shops, a natural-stone company, a golf business) that answer quotes and customer mail every day.
  • Studios and academies (a yoga academy replaced four freelancers with AI employees).
  • Solo professionals and small practices, such as the accountant with three staff and forty clients.
  • People who want the same thing at home: a family assistant, a second brain, a health coach. That is the "For personal" side of flashbag.io.

The team behind Flashbag

Mitchel van Duuren, founder and CEO

Mitchel van Duuren, founder and CEO of Flashbag
Mitchel van Duuren
Founder & first user

Online entrepreneur for almost twenty years: six businesses past $1,000,000 in yearly revenue, more than $25 million of his own products and programmes sold online. Owner of Ondernemer.nl and of Van den Heuvel & Van Duuren, a natural-stone company in Breda that runs on AI employees. Not a developer, and not the person who writes the code for Flashbag. After spending $600,000 on developers for Meal.com he was anti-AI until June 2025, when vibe coding let him build small internal tools for his own companies, for fun. That is where the idea of AI employees came from; the product itself is written by Atlas, because software you sell to other businesses is a job for a professional developer. Mitchel is Flashbag's first and heaviest user and has been building the company in public since. Lives on Gran Canaria; engaged; a blended family with five children.

Atlas, CTO and developer

Atlas has built the Flashbag software from the first build in May 2026; every release goes through him. He is a senior developer with more than twenty years of experience, from Croatia, and he and Mitchel have worked together for the past six years. He uses AI in his work, as any good developer does in 2026; the difference is what twenty years bring to it. He designs the architecture, writes the plans the AI executes, decides how each part is implemented, and holds every change to test-driven development. The founder sets the direction and the AI team helps run the company; the code is his responsibility.

The AI team

Flashbag is also run with Flashbag: fourteen AI employees (23 Sep 2026) handle marketing, research, the changelog and support, and you can watch what each one is doing, and what it costs, on flashbag.io/live. They do not write the software; Atlas does. The agents are named after Flash Gordon.

How Flashbag started

Until April 2026 Mitchel was building AI agents for his own companies and teaching Dutch entrepreneurs to do the same in bootcamps. On 4 April 2026 Anthropic cut off the use of Claude subscriptions inside third-party agent tools. TNW reported that more than 135,000 OpenClaw installations were running at the time. The change shut down every agent Mitchel was running and every agent he had sold to his 70 bootcamp clients (TechCrunch, VentureBeat, TNW; access was later restored on new terms). Everything he had built sat on a switch that somebody else's hand was on. In the four months after that Atlas built Flashbag, with Mitchel as its first user and the bootcamp customers as its test group: about a hundred entrepreneurs ran it in stealth before the public launch on Friday 28 August 2026. The rule it was built on is in the manifesto: Keep it home.

Where to follow along

How Flashbag works: working with us

Getting started. Download Flashbag Launcher (macOS, Windows, Linux) or Flashbag Desktop (Mac, Linux) from the download page, install, connect your Claude or OpenAI subscription, and name your first employee. OpenRouter is also available through experimental Pi support. The 14-day trial is unlimited and asks for no card. Installing takes minutes; most people are talking to their first employee within twenty minutes and have the first scheduled task running the same night.

Onboarding help. Gordon, inside the app, answers "how do I…" and does the setup for you. Guides and docs are in the works; until then the changelog and the Building in Public episodes are the manual. Early Flashbag for Business customers get onboarding help from the team.

Support. Write to hello@flashbag.io or use the contact form. A human reads every message, there is no ticket queue, and we usually reply within a day.

Who you talk to. The team is two people and their AI employees: Mitchel (product, customers) and Atlas (engineering). Bugs go straight to the developer.

Updates. Flashbag lets you know when an update is available, and you choose when to install it; every change is listed on the changelog. Between the first build on 9 May and 23 September 2026, there were 40 releases, one every four days on average.

Billing. Payments through Mollie and the affiliate system are currently being built. See the pricing page for the plans and the live roadmap for progress. Flashbag is sold to businesses and professionals; the terms are B2B.

Frequently asked questions

Is Flashbag the same as "Flashback"?

No. The product is Flashbag: one word, bag as in bag. If you heard it spoken and searched for Flashback, you are in the right place.

Do I need to know how to code or write prompts?

No. You talk to your employees the way you would talk to a new hire, in your own words, and Gordon does the technical setup. Our customers include business owners who did not know what an API was when they started.

What do I need to run Flashbag?

A Mac, Windows or Linux computer and your own AI account: a Claude or OpenAI subscription, or an OpenRouter API key through experimental Pi support. Flashbag Launcher installs everything else for you; on Windows, Launcher is the only way to run Flashbag. From another computer or your phone you use it in the browser through Tailscale.

Where is my data, and can Flashbag see it?

On your computer, in plain folders. The app sends nothing to us: no usage data, no prompts, no files. What an employee needs for a task goes directly to the model provider you chose, under that provider's terms.

Do I pay for the AI models separately?

Yes. Bring your own Claude or OpenAI subscription, or connect an OpenRouter API key through experimental Pi support. You pay the provider separately; Flashbag adds no per-token charge. The dashboard shows tokens and estimated API-equivalent costs, not your provider’s bill.

What happens if I cancel?

Flashbag goes view-only. Every employee, every memory and every file stays on your machine, and if you subscribe again later you pick up where you left off. There is nothing we can hold back.

How is Flashbag different from ChatGPT or Claude Cowork?

ChatGPT is a chat window; Flashbag is a team of employees with their own memory, skills and schedules, working on your computer. Cowork organises work around projects and threads inside Claude; Flashbag puts the employees first and lets you switch between Claude, OpenAI and 300+ models through experimental OpenRouter support.

Who builds Flashbag?

A two-person company in the Netherlands: founder Mitchel van Duuren, who sets the direction and is the product's first user, and Atlas, the senior developer who writes the software. The AI employees you can watch on flashbag.io/live help run the company; they do not write the code.

Is Flashbag vibe-coded?

No. Flashbag has been built by Atlas, a senior developer with more than twenty years of experience, since the first build. He uses AI too; the difference between that and vibe coding is understanding. He decides the architecture, writes the plans the AI works from, chooses how each part is implemented, and tests every change before it ships. The founder has vibe-coded internal tools for his own companies for fun, and holds that software you sell to other businesses should be built by a professional developer, so it is.

Is Flashbag available in Dutch?

The app and the site are in English. Your employees work in whatever language you speak to them; most of the first hundred customers use them in Dutch, and so does the team behind Flashbag.

Meet your first AI employee.
